Case Study #2

I am a triathlete, having successfully competed in two Ironman competitions. As I was ramping up my training, I injured my Achilles tendon. I tried to push through it but it gradually got to a point where it was limiting my training. Given my time frame and training schedule, this was very frustrating.

I had been a patient at National Spine Care for another problem in the past so I called them and booked an appointment to see if there was anything they could do to help. Their experience with sports injuries was evident from the first appointment because they immediately knew exactly what was wrong and explained to me what needed to be done to get better quickly.

What impressed me the most was the convenience of the treatment. My particular problem required a combination of treatments, including chiropractic, physiotherapy, IMS (intramuscular stimulation) and rehabilitative exercises. The staff worked with my schedule to coordinate these treatments so I could get them all done at the same time. Communication between the different care providers was easy because they are in the same clinic. They also understood the demands of my training schedule and worked with me to help me modify my activities so I was able to remain active without continuing to aggravate my injury.

I have now returned to my full training load and am pain free. They also gave me some exercises to build into my normal training to try and prevent another injury. I now see the staff at National Spine Care as part of my team that I need to help me achieve my goal of completing two Ironman races this year.
