Dr. G. Smith BSc, DC

Certified ART® provider, Webster Technique certified

Dr. Gillian’s exposure to Chiropractic started at a young age following a high-jumping accident. During that time, having gone through both the traditional medical system and then experiencing complimentary alternative ways to address her recovery, her eyes were opened to the intriguing way the body works, heals and functions. This experience and budding interest lead her to pursue a degree in Kinesiology at the University of Calgary and to continue on to complete a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.

Dr. Gillian is a full body certified ART (Active Release Techniques) provider. ART is a highly effective soft tissue technique used by many of the world’s top athletes to help them recover from injury and maintain a high level elite performance. For more information on ART, click here.

Dr. Gillian also has a special interest in pregnancy and pediatric care. She is a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA), where she received training to care for the specific needs of infants, little ones, and pregnant women. She is also a certified practitioner of the Webster Technique, which uses gentle and specific chiropractic adjustments during pregnancy to help babies get into the best position for birth. From Dr. Gillian’s perspective some of the most significant times we see the body’s unique ability to adapt are during pregnancy and development because these processes happen so fast. For pregnant women, the physical connection between the uterus and the pelvic structures and the constant change and load on the body lends to how chiropractic can help the body adapt, remain comfortable during the pregnancy and prepare itself for the birthing process. Through her training in perinatal and infant care with the ICPA, Dr. Gillian has a special appreciation and skill set to help women and children get through these amazing and exciting times.

Dr. Gillian uses an individualized approach to care taking into consideration the specific needs of each patient. Beyond passive care, she feels it’s very important to educate people and give them tools for everyday life that will allow them to remain active so they can do the things they love without pain or discomfort.
